    Babes nursing babes.

Laney is quite the big sister.  Her first visit to the OBGYN was at 7 months old.  She knows most of the office staff by their first names.  She became a big sister at 16 months, and again only a few weeks after turning 3.  She is accustomed to pregnancy, birthing balls, cloth diapers, breastfeeding, and mothering in general.  Laney held my hand as I labored at home sitting on the birthing ball with Brayden (#2).  She would take deep breaths with me during contractions.  She doesn’t remember life as an only child.

I will have to say it made me smile when Laney and her sweet little friend appeared from the basement with diaper bags over their sholders and babies in hand.  With no regard to the room full of moms they went to the couch pulled up their shirts and began to "nurse" their dolls.  I hope someday Laney can experience the joy of nursing her own daughter or son.

Brayden has also taken to birthing and nursing.  Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to demonstrate his abilities.  Brayden found his own birthing ball and joined in the laboring process with our third child.  I can picture it in my head, 20 month old Brayden perched on top of a kick ball breathing deepling to help mommy through the contractions.  He has such a sweet spirit and empathetic heart.  Brayden doesn’t nurse baby dolls though, he goes for the monkeys, lions, elmo, or uga.

So I am attempting to blog.  For those of you who know me well, you know that I am not too computer savvy, so this will be interesting.  My new adventures on the internet have inspired me to share more of my family and life with the world.  I thought I would start with our first born, Laney.

Laney is 3 1/2 and is typically a delight.  She has always been my little butterfly.  Before she was born her nursery was decorated with pink and green butterflies.  She has inherited and embraced my love for butterflies.  She hopes to have the bible verse, "In Christ I am a new creation," painted on her wall.

So you are probably wondering why the purple cast and wings?  Laney decided flip flops were a perfect shoe choice for January, and she took a tumble down the stairs.  Brayden, our two year old son, was the only witness to the accident.  Laney tells us she fell down 20 steps.  We only have 15.  As for the wings, the pictures were scheduled before the cast came about.

Laney’s lesson learned, "next time I wear flip flops I want to hold your hand."

Brayden’s lesson learned, "I want to role down the steps."
